Vallecito Lake is one of the largest and most visited bodies of water in Colorado. Preserved in a secluded mountain valley 8,000 feet above sea level, the area is the ancestral home to many of Colorado's Ute Indians. Vallecito Lake is located 13 scenic miles north of Bayfield and 18 miles northeast from Durango. Vallecito provides numerous recreation opportunities and is an ideal launching point to explore the Four Corners area and its many wonders.
