Approved by the Board of Trustees on November 19, 2024; the Town of Bayfield, Colorado, has updated its utility rates and fees effective January 1, 2025, as outlined in Resolution 639. These adjustments impact services including water, sewer, stormwater, mosquito control, and solid waste collection.
Water Rates: The water rate structure consists of a base fee plus a usage fee determined by the amount of water consumed. The base fee is a fixed monthly charge, while the usage fee is calculated based on metered water usage.
Sewer Rates: Sewer charges also include a base fee and a usage fee. The base fee is a fixed monthly charge, and the usage fee is typically based on water consumption, as it correlates with wastewater generation.
Stormwater Fees: The stormwater fee is a fixed monthly charge designed to fund the management and maintenance of the town’s stormwater infrastructure
Inflow and Infiltration Fees: Inflow and Infiltration fee is a monthly charge applied to each sewer account. This fee is collected to fund the maintenance and repair of the town’s wastewater system.
Mosquito Control and Solid Waste Collection Fees: These services are funded through fixed monthly fees assessed to residents.

Example Calculation for an IN TOWN RESIDENTIAL HOME / Hypothetical rates:
• Water: $39.51 – base rate only
• Water Usage: 4700 gallons (under 6000 gallons included in base rate). Calculated by multiplying your metered water consumption (in gallons) by the rate per unit of water.
• Sewer Fee: $70.92 – Base fee + calculated usage (Example home: 4488 gallons) Based on yearly average water consumption, calculated in the spring of each year, multiplied by the sewer rate per unit.
• Stormwater Fee: $10.00 x quantity
• Mosquito Control Fee: $1.46 x quantity
• Inflow & Infiltration Fee: $5.00 x quantity
• Solid Waste Collection Fee: First can per quantity $19.29, additional cans per quantity $13.50
*Quantity is based on taps and multifamily information per property.
2025 Total Monthly Bill: = $145.53

Penalty fees and shut-offs have resumed as of 02/01/2025. Please have your account paid in full by the 02/26/2025 due date in order to avoid the 5% late fee.
