BAYFIELD LIBRARY PARK
The Bayfield Library Park is the newest addition to the Town parks. It has a dedicated acre of outdoor recreational opportunities including a playing field, a perimeter walking path, an elementary and elementary/middle school playground, a combined basketball and pickleball court and a shaded picnic table area, which will serve as a classroom on environmental and outdoor topics.
The park was a collaboration between the Town of Bayfield and the Pine River Library and was partially funded through grants from Go Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the Colorado Health Foundation.
EAGLE PARK
Eagle Park is located at 1189 Highway 160B across from Joe Stephenson Park. The park was named for the two eagles that are carved in one of the trees and for the real eagles that spend some of their time there. The park has a large wooden picnic pavilion that is perfect for birthday parties, reunions, or weddings and a large playground area that is surrounded by lush green grass with lots of spacious areas for kids to run and play. It also has horseshoe pits and a river access that can be used for all sorts of outdoor fun. Eagle Park and Joe Stephenson Park are now fully integrated by a walking path under the Twin Bridges. In 2008, the Town added restroom facilities making this park even more versatile for any family outing. Come on out and take advantage of this gorgeous addition to the Town of Bayfield.
GOSNEY PARK
Gosney Park is located on the North end of Town at 1099 North Oak Drive. It is a quiet & quaint park that offers benches and a state of the art playground for kids of all ages. It’s a great place for a neighborhood cook-out or just a nice quiet picnic.
JOE STEPHENSON PARK
Joe Stephenson Park is the largest park in Bayfield. It is located at the west end of Mill Street. It includes a playground area, a skate park, and a soccer/football/track field. This park is used for the Fourth of July celebration and the Heritage Days festival. This park has two baseball fields & bathroom facilities. Joe Stephenson Park and Eagle Park are now fully integrated by a walking path under the Twin Bridges. Joe Stephenson has lots of picnic tables and grassy shaded areas so that the entire family can enjoy a picnic at the park!
LITTLE PINE RIVER PARK
Little Pine River Park is located at 41746 Highway 160 and is accessible both from Highway 160 and from Roadside Park. Little Pine offers access to the Pine River and beautiful scenic trails that wind through large open space areas and back to the old Town area of Bayfield. It has gorgeous areas that will make a person forget that civilization is so close by. There are interpretive signs, benches placed by the river beds, and a great chance to see wildlife up close and personal. Don’t forget your camera!!!
MESA PARK
Mesa Park is located at 98 South Mesa Avenue near Bayfield Primary School. The playground at Mesa Park was completed in December of 2008. Some of the features include a huge play structure with a triple slide coming off of a 96” deck, a state of the art X-Wave attraction, and ADA and safety compliant manufactured wood chip surfacing. The playground area is surrounded by a large area of grass. It's a great spot to spend an afternoon with the kids!
ROADSIDE PARK
Roadside Park can be found directly off of Highway 160 next to Little Pine River Park. It offers direct access to the Pine River and nice picnicking areas with benches, tables and grills.

PINE RIVER SENIOR CENTER
The Senior Center is located at 111 W. South St. This 5,000 sq. ft. building is a beautiful addition to the town, and is a valuable resource for our local senior citizens. Some of the features of the building include a huge dining area, a lounge with a flat panel TV, free internet use, a pool table, conference room, commercial and warming kitchens, and a large outdoor deck that faces the Pine River with views of the mountains and an occasional bald eagle.

OLD MIDDLE SCHOOL GYM
The old Bayfield Middle School Gym is located at 110 E. South St. This building is a wonderful place to hold birthday parties,workshops, classes, sporting events, dances and meetings. Facility rentals are not final until availability is confirmed with the Bayfield Parks & Recreation Department! SAULS CREEK OPEN SPACE
Sauls Creek abuts the San Juan National Forest. This area contains a mix of ponderosa forest and mountain meadows, with some pinyon-juniper creeping in around the edges. It’s a relatively untraveled area, and birds can be numerous; expect breeding Pine Siskin, Plumbeous Vireo, Western Tanager, and Williamson’s Sapsucker, with a chance at lower-elevation birds like Gray and Ash-throated Flycatcher also. You could find the tassel-eared Abert’s squirrel with some luck, although pine squirrels are more likely.

Directions: From the traffic signal in Bayfield travel east on US 160 for about two miles and turn right (south) at the sign to Saul's Creek. In less than half a mile turn left (east) on CR 527. After one mile bear right at the fork onto FR 755 (also CR 528) and go to the gate, which may be closed and locked. Cross the gate and drive or walk up the road about a half mile to the ponds on the right side.

VALLECITO LAKE
Vallecito Lake is one of the largest and most visited bodies of water in Colorado. Preserved in a secluded mountain valley 8,000 feet above sea level, the area is the ancestral home to many of Colorado's Ute Indians. Vallecito Lake is located 13 scenic miles north of Bayfield and 18 miles northeast from Durango. Vallecito provides numerous recreation opportunities and is an ideal launching point to explore the Four Corners area and its many wonders.

WEMINUCHE WILDERNESS
The Weminuche Wilderness was named after the Weminuche Native Americans and at 488,210 acres, it is the largest wilderness area in the state of Colorado. The wilderness area is managed by the United States Forest Service as part of the San Juan National Forest on the west side of the Continental Divide and the Rio Grande National Forest on the east side of the divide. The San Juan Mountains; Mount Eolus, Sunlight Peak and Windom Peak, in addition to numerous other peaks of note can be found in the wilderness area. It is about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Bayfield.

NAVAJO LAKE
Navajo Lake is a reservoir located in San Juan County and Rio Arriba County in northwestern New Mexico, in the southwestern United States. Portions of the reservoir extend into Archuleta County in southern Colorado.
Two shoreline areas near the dam in New Mexico are part of the Navajo Lake State Park, featuring over 200 camping and picnic sites, and two improved boat ramps and two marinas. An area in Colorado near the head of the lake is the Navajo State Recreation Area. The lake is an excellent destination for camping and general boating, as well Smallmouth Bass, Black Crappie, Northern Pike, Channel Catfish, and Trout fishing.
