Tiny Home Permit Information

The State of Colorado issues permits for Tiny Homes constructed on a permanent chassis, placed on a permanent or temporary foundation, and are connected to utilities similar to a modular or mobile home:  https://cdola.colorado.gov/laws-rules-and-policies-tiny-homes
 

The Town of Bayfield issues permits for Tiny Home Recreational Vehicles (RVs) that are constructed on a trailer, not required to be on a permanent foundation, and are connected to utilities similar to an RV. 

The Town does require the following to be submitted with the Tiny Home RV permit:

  1. Third Party Inspection Report Including Electrical Inspection
  2. Manufacturer Specifications for Roof Snow Load – Town of Bayfield Requires a Roof Snow Load of 51 Pounds per Square Foot
  3. Trailer Registration with La Plata County Clerk/Recorders Office
  4. Exterior Water & Sewer Connection Inspections by Town of Bayfield
  5. Town Issues Certificate of Occupation (CO) after all Inspections are Complete
